The Knotty Barrel has received a rousing reception since bringing its gastropub offerings to Rancho Penasquitos this month.
The opening marks the establishment’s second location, which is more family-friendly compared to its original downtown San Diego operation.
The open layout extends to an outdoor patio replete with fire pits and a turf area for kids; a full bar located inside is loaded with beer taps and a wide selection of cocktails and wine.
The food menu holds something for everyone, starting with Knotty Barrel’s famous potato chip nachos and warm pretzel bites served with house-made beer cheese. Full meals range from burgers, tuna melts and steak sandwiches to chicken pot pies, fish and chips, and chipotle-glazed meatloaf. A kids menu is available as well.
In addition, patrons can enjoy price breaks on select appetizers, draft beer, house wines, and premium-well liquors during happy hour, held from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
