August 26
Trumpeter Jason Hanna performs at Bar Pink on August 26. Although known for his jazz and lounge playing as well as his Blue Note cool persona, Hanna also has impeccable taste in rock songs, transforming the likes of David Bowie’s “Man Who Sold The World” into something Sinatra might have crooned, while Bacharach’s “Always Something There To Remind me,” last made a hit by 80’s new wave duo, Naked Eyes, would do Tony Bennett proud. Hanna is a terrific player who has performed with numerous bands including The Schizophonics Soul Revue, but at he’s at his best in solo spots like these where his mix of music and dry wit can charm an intimate audience.
