Q: What part of San Diego is your company in?
A: Downtown – Countywide
Q: Neighborhood?
A: Central County South
Q: What do you like best about your
neighborhood?
A: Bike Lanes!
Q: Your Story. Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today?
A: San Diego’s 6th Open Street Event – CicloSDias Returns on October 27! Free, care-free streets filled with people walking, biking, skating and shopping all on Adams Avenue, El Cajon Boulevard and City Heights. Family friendly free event from 10am-3pm!
Q: What where some obstacles and challenges. Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A: Since it’s beginning over 5 year ago, CicloSDias has grown to be the regions only Open Street event that happens annually. Our goal is to work with the City of San Diego to provide additional Open Street events in all parts of the city each year. It was a bit of a learning curve but I believe San Diegans now really understand the purpose of the event and have come to love it each year. Safe mobility, clean air, connecting communities and supporting local businesses are just some of those reasons.
Q: What’s been your greatest challenge?
A: Education and engagement. The more businesses on the route put into supporting and promoting the event, the more they can benefit. It’s been a really successful day for so many businesses that have and we love that.
Q: What’s been your greatest reward?
A: Seeing so many happy faces, especially children riding on car free streets and having a blast.
Q: Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for?
A: We advocate, educate and celebrate bikes and how they can transform peoples lives and communities. Healthy, sustainable and fun mobility through safe and connected bike infrastructure.
Q: What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
A: Our passion for what we do to improve the quality of life for so many, all through advocating for better bicycling.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: If you fall, get back up and pedal, just like riding a bike 🙂
Q: Future Plans. What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
A: Seeing the city and region’s bike plans come to reality. it’s an exciting time as more cities are adopting climate policies and mobility plans to bring better bicycling to their communities through protected bikeways, education and encouragement programs (like CicloSDias!)
Q: Describe your ideal San Diego weekend.
A: Long rides up the coast and through our amazing neighborhoods and supporting great local businesses and breweries.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your family.
A: Youngest of 5 kids in a close family with roots in Arizona with lots of fond memories of summers in San Diego…It stuck with me and I’m so happy to have called this home for nearly 20 years now.
