Our 2018 title holders have had a great year of opportunities and have represented the program well… we are so proud of them. Kaitlyn Kostyzak is our Miss Teen Rancho Bernardo and is a Junior at Rancho Bernardo High School. She is involved in peer counseling, is on the Tour De Force Dance Team and the Track and Field team. She will be applying to colleges in the Fall. Michayla Shields is our Miss Rancho Bernardo.

Miss Rancho Bernardo Miss Teen Rancho Bernardo scholarship pagent
The Miss Rancho Bernardo Scholarship Program will celebrate its 28th year by hosting our annual program at the Rancho Bernardo Inn on April 7th, 2019. The program welcomes young women between the age of 14 and not yet 21 that live or go to school in the zip codes of Rancho Bernardo. Our program is looking for young women that will serve as youth ambassadors for a year.
The selected title holders will have opportunities to volunteer at a variety of events for numerous organizations throughout the community of Rancho Bernardo and beyond. We are proud to be sponsored by the Rancho Bernardo Business Association (RBBA) and the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club (the noon club).
These organizations help to fund the scholarship for our title holders; welcome us at meetings and events and are true partners in providing our titleholders a year of service that they will never forget. We feel fortunate to have the support of community businesses and organization that provide our awards. A special thanks to Unicorn Jewelry of Rancho Bernardo and the Soroptimists International of North San Diego.

Our program is a competition and the judging categories include a speech in front of all contestants and judges; a personal interview with a panel of judges; business and cocktail attire; an impromptu question in front of the audience and poise and personality demonstrated throughout the competition day. There are awards for best speech; Highest GPA and runner up in each of our categories of Miss and Teen. The GPA award is not a part of our scoring yet; a scholarship program thus we want to recognize the young women’s academic achievements.
Additionally, photographers will select our most photogenic winners and the contestants themselves select the spirit of the pageant winner. Although; we only select one young lady from each category as the title holder; all of the young ladies benefit by just participating.
They are building their confidence, learning interview skills; experiencing lessons of how to best present themselves and having fun with a group of young ladies that care about their communities and want to have an impact on others.
This year we have thirteen local area young women participating in the program. We have five young women competing for the title of Miss Teen Rancho Bernardo and eight young women competing for the title of Miss Ranch Bernardo.
All of them are working hard to prepare for program day on April 7th by formulating and practicing their speech; participating in interview preparation sessions and selecting attire that represents their personal sense of style.
