When it comes to gimmicks, Captured by Robots appearing at Brick by Brick on September 22 has a good one, it’s right there in their name. The premise is that a group of mechanical musicians has taken a human captive, Jbot, and forced him to front a band, playing grindcore and recreating classic rock songs such as “Mississippi Queen.” It’s a surreal happening bordering on performance art, with odd looking robots GTRBOT666 and DRMBOT0110 providing the backing as well as plenty of comedy banter between songs. There are recordings and videos of Captured by Robots out there, but this is something that has to be seen to be believed.
