San Diego has a long history of great guitarists living in the county. Jazz icons like Barney Kessell and Peter Sprague, rock legends like Greg Douglass (Steve Miller) and recent transplant Ace Frehley (KISS), blues heroes like Johnny Vernazza (Elvin Bishop) and JJ Cale, are just some of the storied players that have called the area home.
Notably, there is plenty of fresh talent emerging as well. Such is the case with Anthony Cullins, who performs at the Pala Resort on May 11 as part of the Fallbrook Live music series hosted by Rexrode Productions. Still, in his teens, Cullins has taken the local blues community by storm. Dubbed “The Fallbrook Kid” Cullins has already begun appearing at blues festivals around the country, playing with everyone from Casey Hensley to the Surfari’s along the way.
