Kids Actually Enjoy Coming To School!
As summer winds down it is time for teachers and staff at The Child’s Primary School to get ready for the return of students eager to learn. Eager to learn? Yes! That is one of the hallmarks of The Child’s Primary School, an academically challenging school in Clairemont. Kids actually enjoy coming to school and parents sometimes have a hard time getting them in the car at the end of the day to take them home! One of the reasons for this great dynamic is the devotion the teachers bring to their jobs. This week the teachers returned to campus for their orientation week, excited to see each other and to continue to hone their craft for the new school year. Their orientation week focused on differentiation in the classroom, extending the curriculum to be even more exciting and engaging, facilitating greater student social happiness, and continuing to build meaningful, long lasting relationships with the parents, kids, and other staff members. Everyone is excited with back to school vibes as we anticipate the beginning of the school year. Parents and even some students have also been getting in on the back to school action, showing up at the school to help out with campus readiness. Our parents are an incredible part of our small school community, and their help is greatly appreciated!
The week before school, parents will come to school for an annual tradition: the Back to School Parent Potluck. It is a wonderful way for parents to start the school year. After the dinner, the parents break out to go to their child’s classroom, where teachers give a preview of the exciting school year to come. Students come to school the very next day to visit their classrooms. This event allows our students to reconnect and make new friendships before the official first day of school. The first day can be a little anxious for students and having a special visiting day in advance, seems to make all students feel more comfortable on that first day, from Kindergarteners through middle school. On Tuesday, September 4t h, the students come to the first day of school, excited to start the school year, which ends with the annual bubble ceremony where the whole school gathers to blow bubbles up to the sky as they make wishes for a great year to come!
