About Jeremy Waller
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I come from a family that has been very active in the San Diego sports community for many year. My dad and uncles played professional baseball. My dad later went on to hold several positions within MLB organizations such as a minor league Manager, Scout, and Scouting Director. Most notably he was the Assistant GM for the San Diego Padres and now is the Director for Youth Development for the MLBPA. My Uncle Tye Waller was with the Padres for 19 years as a Coach, Manager, Roving Instructor, and Director of Player Development. He then went on to become a First Base Coach for 13 years with the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am an entrepreneur that owned an online game-scheduling platform called Sandlot Gamez. We also facilitated tournaments under Sandlot Gamez for Xtreme Diamond Sports and National Championship Sports. In 2016 I joined Sports Channel Media, Inc. as the Director of Business Development. I worked my way up to becoming the CEO of Sports Channel Media, Inc. in 2022. Currently, I am the GM and VP of Operations for San Diego’s newest women’s professional team the San Diego Mojo, which is a part of the Pro Volleyball Federation. I love working in the sports and tech spaces because of the opportunity to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Anything is possible when you are passionate about what you are doing. Every situation or problem has been encountered by someone else before you and their decision either created an adverse or favorable outcome. Also one of my favorite quotes is “Who you were isn’t who you are and who you are isn’t who you are going to become”. We are all works in progress, so learn from your mistakes and relentlessly pursue your goals.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Continuing to follow my passions and having a positive impact on the people around me which is my life compass. Ultimately, that is my greatest goal. I can’t say there is a specific job or accomplishment that I pursue as my life compass has always taken me to where I should be.
