The local hip-hop and R&B community gets a boost on February 22 with the staging of the first annual 619 Fest at Queen Bee’s Art and Cultural Center. The night will be headlined by Dru Jefe, perhaps best known for his recent single “On Mommas,” with appearances from Lew Salem, who released two EP’s in 2018 including, “Don’t Touch Me I’m Expensive.” Also appearing will be Michael Brandxn, Ainjo, Daygo Fatts, MaZhe, R.A.D., Divine Concept with MC duties from comedian Gordon M. Terry. This is billed as the first in what’s hoped to be a long running series of annual events, here’s hoping it helps get the local hip-hop and R&B scene greater visibility, whatever it’s run may be.
