FEBRUARY 24TH AT THE CASBAH

On February 24 Dizzy’s will be the sight of a special afternoon. An event celebrating the storied career of bassist Bob Magnusson, who has recently retired from performing live.
Magnusson has been an integral part of the local music community for decades, mentoring hundreds of musicians along the way.
There will be a social hour, giving friends and fans a chance to mingle. Followed by a concert, curated by bassist Mackenzie Leighton.
He has recorded numerous works of his own, as well as done many studio recordings with plenty of top jazz players. Including but not limited to, Art Pepper, Chick Corea, and John Klemmer. Equally impressive is his work in the pop world.
Magnusson can be enjoyed on many classic albums such as Herb Alpert’s “Rise”, Linda Ronstadt’s “Lush Life”, 10,000 Maniacs In My Tribe and Neil Diamond’s “Lovescape”.
His presence on stage will be missed, but luckily for the music world, he will continue to teach.
If you are a Jazz Music fans you definitely shouldn’t miss this opportunity to salute one of the lynchpins of San Diego’s jazz community. The event begins at 4 p.m., is free and all ages.
