Many music hitmakers got their start in San Diego and on November 2, The Museum of Making Music celebrates this fact with Sounds Like San Diego IX. The special concert focuses on local music history, featuring an all-star group of musicians playing classic songs by local hitmakers, from Iron Butterfly to Jason Mraz. Three themes will be featured this year: Top 40 Hits, Soundtracks and A Tribute to famed guitarist and producer, Mundell Lowe. Amongst the performers on stage will be legendary rocker Jerry Raney (The Roosters, Glory, The Beat Farmers), blues singer and 2018 San Diego Music Awards “Best Blues” winner Whitney Shay, instrumental surf trio Alvino & The Dwells, pianist Normandie Wilson, violinist Alicia Previn, pop quartet Mittens (also 2018 SDMA winners), indie rockers Electric Mud and singer-songwriter Ray Brandes (The Tell Tale Hearts, The Town Cryers). This concert series is always full of surprises and great music, with the bonus of fun info about the area’s storied music community.
