Blues fans won’t want to miss S. Mathias & The Honeycombs appearing at the De Oro Mine Co. on April 26. “The blues is the most honest and the truest American art form that we have,” said frontman and guitarist Scott Mathiasen.
The key to this bands magic is in his melodically strong songwriting. He definitely has a great rough-edged voice and his lead guitar work is a triumph, but it’s his wealth of classic sounding original music that truly sets him apart. S. Mathias is well on his way to taking his music to the national level with a recent signing to Los Angeles label, She Said Records. Great to listen to, even better to dance to, songs like the bouncy title track from his latest album, or acoustic stompers like “Love Song #1,” show him adding new life to a fabled artform.
