2019 ROLANDO STREET FAIR

By Kirstin Broome, Rolando News Staff

The most neighborly street fair in San Diego the 24th annual Rolando Street Fair happened March 31. We hope that you had a great time at the fair!
This year the Rolando Street Fair was bigger and better than ever. The Kids Zone, supported by new neighbor Bridge Church, was a hit and we look forward to expanding it next year. The BLVD63 Beer Garden added to the festive spirit of the day, with beer generously donated by local breweries. Our Community Stage provided a great venue for local performers to entertain the more than 14,000 attendees at the fair this year. The Main Stage once again featured our free all-day concert. There were so many great food vendors to choose from and lots of craft and specialty booths to browse. There was something for everyone!
We thank all of the generous sponsors of the 2019 Rolando Street Fair. And thanks to all the hardworking volunteers who donated their time and expertise to make this annual event happen.
The Rolando Street Fair is a unique community event, brought to the neighborhood each year through the hard work of a group of dedicated volunteers, and supported by our generous sponsors. Planning begins in early fall each year, with many people joining to produce “the biggest little street fair” in San Diego. The Rolando Street Fair planning committee includes a dozen dedicated volunteers, and on the day of the fair, more than fifty of your neighbors donate their time to help make the fair a success.
Volunteering for the planning committee or on the day is a small commitment with a huge reward in helping to bring this well-loved event to Rolando. Todd Rehfuss, RCC President feels that “The Rolando Street Fair belongs to all of Rolando and it is my honor to help make it a success“. Local resident Chris Loryman comments, “The Street Fair is a centerpiece of our community, and it brings so much enjoyment to thousands of visitors each year. It’s a pleasure to volunteer to make it happen. I truly believe that the Rolando Street Fair is the best fair in San Diego. “
Next year we’ll have the 25th annual Rolando Street Fair, and we hope to make it the best one yet. We are always looking for more people to join the planning committee or volunteer to help on the day. And we’d love to engage more local businesses in supporting this event. If you are interested in being part of bringing this historic 25th annual event to Rolando, please let us know. Information about volunteering and sponsorship is available on the Rolando Community Council web site, and opportunities to join the planning committee are announced at RCC meetings. Or you might speak with one of our current volunteers to learn more about producing the Rolando Street Fair.
The Rolando Community Council would like to thank the members of the Rolando Street Fair Committee: Stephanie Bonner, Kirstin Broome, Laurel Grinnell, Exxes Hauffen, Doug Lister, Melissa McCausland, Adam McLane, Emily Perez, Todd Rehfuss, Dana Rowley, Aisha Sallah, Jim Schneider, and producer Sandi Buehner.
